After being diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, in sixth grade, Joe Wise had a bleak outlook on life. When he was unable to continue playing his favorite sports, Joe began swimming, to strengthen his lungs. Six years later Joe not only became the youngest swimmer at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, but swimming enabled him to beat the disease that he was told would end his life by the end of high school.
