Suraj (2018)

Middle-class Hindu man, Suraj Patel, lives what seems to be an ordinary life from an outside point of view, however, internally, he is tortured. All his life, Suraj has inhabited the weight of denying a part of his identity. A certainty he knows would bring upon unimaginable shame to not only him, but his family name and religion. His wife, Sonia, may or may not be aware of this unspoken truth. He constantly seeks comfort at the Mandir (Hindu temple). In this short film inspired by true events, a dark secret ties in with the pressures of succumbing to Hindu traditions and roles, all of which play a part in Suraj Patel's decision at the end of his day.
