The Return of the Statue of St. Lawrence (2022)

This document maps the event that took place in 2021 in the village of Kysice, located near Pilsen. In order to understand the whole event, we must go back to history. Chapel of St. Lawrence was built in 1863 and contained a total of three statues, John of Nepomuk, Jan Sarkander, and St. Lawrence, after which the chapel was dedicated. One day, however, the chapel was stolen and two of its statues were lost. The only statue of Jan Sarkander remained. The local mayor decided to return this statue to the village using the locally fallen linden tree. And so, after several decades, the statue of St. Lawrence returned to its home.
