Summer 2019, Moscow is in grip of opposition protests. Three thousands protesters are detained, among them young activist Konstantin Kotov. Daring lawyer Maria Eismont sees that this is a politically motivated accusation. She becomes Kotov's representative. Despite Maria's efforts the court sentences Kotov to 4 years in prison. In December 2019 during the press-conference with Vladimir Putin, the president is asked about Kotov's case. This seems to put things into motion and Kotov's case is sent to the court of appeal. Maria feels torn - her defendant finally has a hope but her lawyer's work is devalued if the justice was achieved by supreme order.
