Thota, Shadow behind the canvas... (2019)

'Thota' explores the struggles, aspirations, confusions, pretensions, the communist influences and ultimately the journey of becoming the renowned artist Thota Vaikuntam. Though disillusioned with communist leaders he believes that communism would build a peaceful society with a humanistic approach. At this last phase of life, he desires to escape the 'inhuman multi-layered urbanized life' and reach his village roots. This documentary 'Thota' follows the journey of a young boy, Thota Vaikuntam from an underprivileged village which ends up in the modern flashy yet historical city of Hyderabad and the transformation of the small boy into a fully bloomed artist. 'Thota' breaks down Thota Vaikuntam's life into different stratas revealing all the shades of his life.
