A man is found dead at the foot of a cliff. Gendarme Marie Breguet and her colleague Yassine go to the scene and borrow a boat from a neighbor, Franck Lavigne, to retrieve the body. Marie, recently divorced and with a 14-year-old daughter, Lili, isn't indifferent to Franck's charms, but the investigation leads her to suspect him, a newcomer to the region, where he's settled with his 15-year-old daughter Nadia, and whose mysterious behavior intrigues her. As Marie tries to catch him out, Franck confesses that he is in fact a policeman charged with protecting Nadia (a witness to a murder committed by Prieur, the head of a criminal network). Nadia takes advantage of Franck's slackening surveillance to run away and find Lili, who's trying to steal Franck's boat to go to a nearby island where a concert is taking place. Sauveur, Prieur's henchman, is on Nadia's trail and heading for the island too. Unfortunately, Marie and Franck get to the island too late: Sauveur has not succeeded in eliminating Nadia, but he is holding Lili hostage.
