Can We Talk? is an innovative, original work combining the subtle intimacy of film with the live energy of theatre. A piece born out of the political, social, and public health upheaval of 2020 in the United States, Can We Talk? uses the lessons of the past to move forward into the present. Stuck in a cramped New York City apartment during the COVID-19 crisis, two roommates, Kaitlyn and Frances, struggle to define themselves and their friendship in a world that no longer makes sense. Unable to have a meaningful conversation about their individual experiences with class, race, privilege, and purpose, the two instead choose to escape into a world of imagination and history. Using the true oral testimony of a Woman Airforce Service Pilot (WASP) during World War II, the two roommates spend their last night together learning, listening and letting go.
