YouTube personality Marques Brownlee discusses the topic "Right to Repair", focusing on high-technology consumer products such as smart phones and computers. Do you have the right to repair or modify the items you own? We accept certain limitations on many of our things for safety's or society's sake, such as speed limits on automobiles and the inability to print paper money from a personal computer printer. But should manufacturers ban ALL non-authorized repairs on the products they sell? For example, should you be able to buy a new screen for your smart phone, to fix a broken screen? Or to replace a failing battery? Should manufacturers be able to ban the sale of replacement parts to the consumer or to non-manufacturer-approved repair shops?
