Parasocial (2021)

Sam, a psychologist, is conducting a research experiment on the effects of isolation on the human mind. They select John, an aimless 20-something, to participate in 365 days of monitored isolation in a single room. Over the course of the year-long experiment, Sam develops a romantic parasocial relationship with John, who, all the while is beginning to show symptoms of the more damaging effects of isolation. After John suffers a mental break, Sam is forced to choose between John or what could be a career-defining study.
