The Golden Bougainvillea (2022)

The 40-year-old Molly, a single mother, is at a point in her life where she feels like the loneliness she goes through is suffocating her life. Once her only daughter, Neena, leaves for college every morning, Molly is alone in her house, having nothing to do. That's the time when Jose, a 50-year-old divorced man, comes to rent the first floor of Molly's house. Molly develops a liking for Jose and falls in love with him. But Neena, Molly's Daughter, can't accept her mom with another person who's not her dad. It creates tension between the mom and daughter, and finally, Molly decides to break up with Jose for the sake of her daughter's happiness. After ten years, Neena finds herself in a situation that makes her guilty and sad about how her mom gave up a relationship for her. The film is all about exploring the physical and emotional needs of single mothers and giving an enlightening perspective on being open about the relationships people get into at different points in their life.
