A Guide to Becoming a Detective (2022)

A Guide to Becoming a Detective is a short film about beautiful encounters, and our fond and sometimes warped memories of those moments. In the disguise of a detective narrative, we find a Sherlock Holmes wannabe and a bumbling sidekick wading through black, white and red herrings, in search of an unknown objective. The pseudo-detective, scoffing at his clueless tag-along, starts to slowly unravel the mystery behind why he took up the detective hat - a coup de foudre. After a chance encounter with an attractive girl, the detective is instantly love-struck. Just when it seems that he has found the girl of his dreams, she takes off with the promise of an elusive return and a mystifying keepsake. When this mysterious piece of the puzzle is finally revealed, the sidekick instantly recognizes the meaning behind the girl's souvenir. Case closed, mystery solved - the detective and his sidekick happily exit and the curtains close. Or so the story goes.
