At a time when Germany would like to close its last active power plants, France, which obtains 67% of its electricity from nuclear power, has just announced the construction of new EPRs (European Pressurised Reactor). These third-generation reactors are presented as safer and more profitable than their predecessors. On the other side of the Rhine, despite the announcement of a nuclear phase-out in 2011, the atomic page is far from turned, as shown by the example of the Greifswald power station, whose dismantling and decontamination work, which began thirty years ago, is not expected to be completed until 2065. On both sides of the Rhine, the question of the treatment of irradiated waste and spent fuel is just as burning.
