Angel-khranitel (2007)

Why is it that once dreams of material wealth have been realised, happy family life disintegrates? Businessman returns with his family to his native town, where he learns about the strange and mysterious death of his father, a well-known art critic and collector, and owner of an old mansion. In order to improve his shaky financial situation, the son decides to sell the mansion and his father's entire collection of paintings, but it turns out that they are forgeries. Soon afterwards the family starts receiving letters with threats and demands to sell the house. Where are the original paintings? What if there is a hiding place somewhere in the mansion? A frantic and desperate search begins, triggering serious tensions in the family, as greed and self-interest lead to betrayal and eventually bloodshed. Money becomes the measure of the characters' true values, as they face the choice between family relations and duty, obligations and decency. However, the real winners are those who believe in the power of love.
