As in the novel, Muff Potter is portrayed as a broken-down alcoholic. He also smokes a pipe in a few scenes. Huckleberry Finn smokes a corncob pipe throughout the series. Tom takes up smoking a corncob pipe in the later episodes. A few minor male characters smoke cigars and pipes.
