Occasional sexual innuendos, usually mild. Bestiality is referenced as Gary seeks a human date. The antagonists, a man and his cat, are implied to be in a romantic relationship. Two women shake hands in a suggestive manner akin to the sexual act of scissoring.

Rarely there are more visual sexual innuendos. A magazine titled "Nude Rats On Ice" has a rat woman posing suggestively while covering her breasts. "The Naughty Kitty Oils" has a cat woman posing suggestively. A man gropes a woman's rear, and is then kicked in the crotch. In episode 13, a brief sequence shows pinups of cats, some of which being anthropomorphic. Genitals and nipples are not shown, but anuses are drawn as x's.

Frequent bloody violence, including decapitations and mutilation. Brief and not highly detailed.

Occasional coarse language, including "shit," "Jesus Christ," "son of a bitch," "ass," "bastard," "bitch," and "retard." The opening of the show has two variations from episode to episode, "Gary the Rat... Well, this just sucks." And "Gary the Rat... Shit."

Lots of dark humor. Murder and death throughout the series is taken lightly by most characters. Some characters contemplate suicide at times throughout the series. Side characters casually mention killing people in the past.
