Patrice Martinet, a young dentist from Paris, drives to Nogent-le-Châtel, a pretty county town, where he has a business appointment. Back in Paris, he announces to his mother his intention of settling down in Nogent, which does not particularly please her. Patrice then tries to see Martine, a young dentist he cares for, but she does not seem willing to meet him...
