Blessed with a vast expanse of territory, where mountains, plains, and deserts converge, from the beginning Chihuahua has been formed by a historical blend of indigenous heritage, Spanish influence and proximity to the southern United States. During the colonial era, the state became a major mining region in New Spain. Attracted by this industry, immigrants endured clashes with Apaches and other rebel tribes. In this first video, we are taken on a historical tour of Chihuahua, a state that has never been immune to national economic and political events such as the cry of Independence, foreign invasions, and the War of Reform; all of which would leave their mark on the local population by forging its tough, maverick character.
