Crime Drama Thriller

The Byrdes and their teenage kids Charlotte and Jonah look like, and mostly are, an ordinary family with ordinary lives. Except that husband/father Marty, a Chicago financial advisor, also serves as the top money-launderer for Mexico's second-largest drug cartel. When things go awry, he must uproot his family from the skyscrapers of Chicago and relocate to the lazy lake region of the Missouri Ozarks.

Parent Guide

Only 1 sex scene throughout the entire third season.

While the violence in the series overall is not terribly excessive, it's quite occasional and very graphic when it happens. The violence includes shootouts, torture, and other disturbing acts of violence. Some death scenes are quite shocking.

A man has his hand blown up with a shotgun. This is onscreen, and it's very graphic.

A man is shot in the crotch, but it is seen from far, so there is no blood or gore.

A woman is severely beaten. She is later seen in the hospital with bruises and some blood.

A man's head is bashed several times with a toolbox. This is offscreen, however, he is then seen with blood on his face. His corpse then stabbed in the stomach and put into the river.

After a shootout, a man is seen severly injured, with blood on his shirt.

Three headless bodies are placed at someone's house. Blood is seen pooling from the wounds.

A man is shot in the neck. Due to the lack of luminosity, blood splatter isn't seen. He is the seen lying on the floor, while a man and his wife try to save him. A large pool of blood is seen.

A woman trips on some brick stairs and severely injures herself.

A man busts another man's door down and brutally punches him.

The series is permeated with the threat of violence. Multiple episodes have killings some of which are on camera and bloody and some of which are off camera. Corpses are shown. Many of the characters that do violent acts are portrayed as sympathetic in some way.
