Stand Up Santa Cruz (2014)

A group of lovable loser comedians hone their chops at different mics each night across local dives. Their worst shows make for great comedy. Each episode is a thematic departure from the previous, and homages to greater cinema are paid (ie Clerks in Episode 3). At first this show occurs as annoying in its celebration of a navel-gazing subculture within a subculture, but then you begin to fall in love with the weirdness that is ultimately a love letter to Santa Cruz, California.
