In Season 2 of Ginny & Georgia, there is more self-harm and discussion of mental health. Heavy and emotional topics are tackled. A teen burns herself to deal with pain. Drugs are shown and used by teens constantly.

The series contains themes of violence, such as domestic abuse, self-harm, and murder. Characters are shown wielding guns, with even a child getting ahold of a gun and shooting it. A character self-harms and is shown burning herself and even entering a bath tub with scolding hot water. There is also a scene where a character is being smothered with a pillow.

Self-harm plays a major theme in Ginny & Georgia. We saw it in season one, but season two has us diving deeper into the darkness of inflicting harm on oneself. As previously stated, Ginny burns herself when her emotions get out of control. Inflicting the pain seems to transfer the emotional pain she's enduring into physical pain. It's a topic addressed not nearly enough, and hopefully helps others who can relate to Ginny feel seen. Mental health awareness is so incredibly important.

Murder is obviously another theme in Ginny & Georgia. Gun safety and ownership are addressed, as well as the dangers of having an unsecured firearm inside of your home. Abuse, both physical and verbal, are also present.

Ginny & Georgia does not have a significant amount of violence, however, there are scenes of fighting and physical abuse. This is mostly from a flashback in which Georgia was hit by her father. In addition, part of the plot includes murder, in which Georgia kills her ex-husband. She is seen poisoning his smoothie, giving him a heart attack, and causing him to die in a car accident.

When Ginny is feeling especially stressed she engages in self-harm. Although these scenes are not overly gory or disturbing, the content may be triggering for viewers who have struggled with this behaviour in the past.

Lots of profanities.

There's many uses of many type of cuss words throughout the show and commonly used is "bitch."

Someone is referred to as a "pussy"; girls are referred to as "bitches"; a teen remarks of the mayor, "all the thirsty moms throw their twats at him"; regarding a kid who's bullying him, Georgia tells her 9-year-old son, "screw that asshole"; the teens refer to their teacher's "small dick." Many uses of "shit."

There is a lot of language in Ginny & Georgia like "shit," "bullshit," "asshole," "bitch," "damn," and g-dammit. There are also sexual words used like "dick," "pussy," "skank," "twat," "jerkoff," and "balls" respectively.

Contains strong language, with profanity used throughout. Lookout words include "bitch," "shit," "damn," "hell," "sucks," and others.

Ginny & Georgia is certainly filled with crass language. They really don't hold anything back and put it all out there. However, I feel the profanity in season two has been toned down a bit since season one. Lookout words include multiple uses of "bitch," "shit," "dick," "asshole," "badass," "piss off," and "hell" respectively.

This show is no stranger to adult language. Almost all of the characters frequently use words such as "shit," "asshole," and "dick."

At the beginning of the first episode, viewers hear Georgia explain that "you better make sure you're getting something else out of sex or you're just getting screwed" while describing sex. To Georgia, it's clear that sex can be a tool used to manipulate men. Additionally, there are several scenes that involve masturbation - the most colourful one includes an electric toothbrush - and Ginny and her friends chat about sex often.

While Georgia has a progressive outlook on sex and encourages her daughter to come to her with questions or concerns - she even puts Ginny on birth control at one point - this could be a good way to begin talking about safe sex and pregnancy prevention with your teen.
