Captain Zero goes viral after a failed attempt to stop a villain (Oblivion). His rise to infamy causes tension among Hyper-Human's and regular civilians to swell and the city decides to take action. Enter Alyssa Day, tech billionaire who under the guise of criminal justice builds a state of the art prison designed to harbor Hyper-Human criminals. But her real plan is to privately experiment on inmates in order to discover medical advancements and bring about the next stage in human evolution. The consequences of Captain Zero's failed heroism manifest as a depression demon that causes him to lose control of his powers during depressive episodes. Desperate to prove himself a "real hero" he tries to change his public perception, but each failed attempt only brings him closer to self destruction.
