Iain's parents met each other as amateur filmmakers back in the early 80's - in the days of old ciné film; Standard 8mm and Super 8mm film prints.
His mother, Maureen, was an editor - a surprisingly talented one at that (she won several awards on an amateur level) and his father, Micky, was a director. And so it wasn't long before the two of them started collaborating - on movie projects.
They eventually got married, and Iain was born and raised in a home that was littered with movie books, filmmaker magazines, movie-making equipment, and, of course, the movies themselves - be it in 8mm, Betamax, and VHS formats. Watching a movie in the Behr home was akin to a sacred event, as his parents would scrutinise and analyse all aspects of the film. They would give commentary on the editing, the sound, the colour, the music, the lighting, the camera work, the acting, etc.
Iain, unwittingly absorbed it all and started drawing comic books and writing stories as a means of 'cinematic release'. He made flipbook animations (using his dad's old business cards) and sell them at school. It took Iain a long time to realise why he was the only person in grade school who knew about Charles Bronson, Sidney Lumet, and Strangers on a Train. Being a highly creative individual, he pursued other areas to release his imagination, namely music and graphic design (his father was a musician and his mother was an artist)
Iain graduated from the Cape Audio College in 2006 as a qualified music producer and the natural ability to play up to 8 musical instruments at one point. Immediately he got a job as a graphic designer and made his living from that for the next 12 or so years.
After becoming a finalist in a local short film making competition, Iain got a chance to direct his own script (One Last Drop) with a professional crew. However, production was very slow to come about, so Iain decided to make his first official short film, 'The Hitchhiker', which was filmed with zero budget and a minimal crew of friends.
Soon afterwards he was able to make 'One Last Drop' with a professional crew, and enjoyed the experience so much that he decided at all costs to become a professional movie maker.
He is currently (July 2018) in preproduction with his third short film, Stan.
