María Laura Reina is an Argentina-based filmmaker from Venezuela, graduated from La Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) in Venezuela. She has made several short films, in various roles such as director, script, assistant director and editor. Her short films Lunes de Cosecha (2015), Umbral (2016), and Arraigo (2016) have been selected in a variety of national and international film festivals, including the International Festival of New Latin America Cinema (2016) in Havana- Cuba, Cinélatino Festival Rencontres de Toulouse (2017) in France, and Chicago Latino Film
Festival (2017), in the United States. Her most recent short film Fusilao (2019) won the jury prize at the Venezuelan Film Festival of Buenos Aires in its 4th edition.
Her works lean towards an intimate cinema, with melancholic characters focused on family relationships. María Laura is interested in author's narratives, where each story has a particular perspective, and the images manage to narrate what the characters do not dare to say.
