Malinalli López is an award-winning film producer, director and screenwriter who was born in Guanajuato, México and lives in Sonoma County, Northern California. She is the recipient of the 2018 Jackie Hoffner Heart and Hope award, for her work combining film with social impact.She has a BA in Chicano Studies from the University of California at Berkeley and an MFA in Directing in Motion Pictures and Television from the Academy of Art San Francisco. As well as being a filmmaker she has an entrepreneurial passion and is a founder and CEO at XQL media--a company dedicated to producing films and media centered in social justice. She teaches film and ethnic studies at Sonoma State University.
