Larry is a loser. At least his mom thinks so...and so does everyone he works with at the Boris Café, where he serves fi-fi Panini's to a motley crew of customers in Hollywood. Ross, the hard-boiled owner of the café is determined to make everyone as miserable as he is, and forces Larry, Rebecca, Angie, Emilio, Wayne and Chrissy, an already unfulfilled group of disgruntled employees and out of work actors, to face their misgivings daily. A bad morning evolves into the worst day of Larry's life when the busboys decide that Ross owes them a retirement fund. Derrigo, their angry leader, is privy to the knowledge that his boss, Ross, keeps his money in a safe in his office- he doesn't trust the bank or anyone for that matter. Derrigo and his crew decide that they are going to rob Ross during his money transfer routine. The problem is-the day they choose to do this, the routine changes. Larry, caught in the middle because he is the only one that treats the busboys with any respect, finds him and his co-workers in the midst of what becomes a hostage situation instead of a robbery. Larry must finally stand up and make a difference. After finding himself as the involuntary "human shield" because he is determined to impress Rebecca, Larry figures he will derail the situation. Like everything else that day- it doesn't exactly work out that way.
