In July 25 1966, a bomb exploded at Guararapes International Airport, in Recife, Pernambuco, northeast of Brazil. People were killed, others seriously injured forever -, physically and psychologically -, by this terrorist act perpetrated by a left radical political group two years after the military took over the Brazilian government in April 1964. Among the dead and injured were Sebastião Thomaz de Aquino, a famous former soccer player, known as "Parahyba", from the popular soccer team Santa Cruz. "Parahyba" lost a leg, the journalist Edson Régis de Carvalho died. Other victims were some seniors military officers and ordinary people who walking through the airport.
