Based on the best-selling novel and true story about a young Jewish/Catholic girl named Samantha Bonti who is living her life and writing about it simultaneously, from ages 18-25. She is a writer, a criminals girlfriend and a daughter to a highly dysfunctional drug addicted Catholic mother and a passionate yet exceedingly erratic, Jewish Grandmother. Her dead-beat Sicilian father abandoned her at birth. A true coming of age story about a young girl who wanted to get over the bridge and into the haven known as Manhattan. Shot entirely in Brooklyn and NYC. Accompanied by an 80's soundtrack. Music plays a pivotal role in scenes.
