The film opens with an interview of a white, middle-aged man who had spent many troubled years lost in a consuming addiction along with fruitless attempts to get past it. His misery had driven him to buy a gun and prepare for his end. But in one last attempt to reclaim his life he attends a Native American Prayer meeting and has a life-changing experience. The question is then posed in this film-essay as to the origin of such a profound experience. The rest of the piece explores spirituality, including nature and art as well as Buddhist, Christian and Native American practices. This is presented as an open and non-dogmatic exploration of ancient paths meant to bring people back from emotional disconnection, chaos and misery.
