Khandava Parvam is a theatrical retelling of a small incident from the Mahabharata. It depicts Krishna and Arjuna, the Yadava and Kuru prince, ruthlessly grabbing land from the Nagas, an indigenous people. Contrasting with modern day lawsuit over land grabbing, the film is about the universal and timeless story of struggle over land and how, history is always written by the victors. Partly adapted from Iravati Karve's Sahitya Academy award winning book Yuganta: The end of an epoch, Khandava Parvam seeks to reinterpret the Mahabaratha from a humanist perspective by demystifying the motivations and actions of kings and sages who are now venerated as God's.
