Femke is in her mid twenties, she is married to David and they are expecting their first child together. Menno is a student mainly because it is what society expects him to do. Rather than focussing on his degree he lives for his music and the band he plays in. Eduard is a middle-aged civil servant. He is relatively successful at his job, married to Irene and happy with the routine of his life. One by one their daily routines are interrupted as they lose a loved one. How will they react and deal with their loss?
