Regarding India an ongoing series of artist interviews initiated in 2011, focused on India, one of the most exciting emerging contemporary art scenes. Originally trained as an engineer, Ravi Agarwal is a highly esteemed photographer and environmental activist whose work came to wide public attention after his inclusion in Documenta 11 in 2002. His artistic practice is unique not only for the haunting beauty of his imagery, but for its focus and commitment to crucial environmental concerns in rapidly changing urban India, particularly New Delhi where he lives and founded the NGO Toxics link. He discusses his work as it connects to his multiple roles as a scientist, activist and artist.
