The assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin on November 4, 1995, as he left a peace rally in support of the Oslo Accords plunged the country into mourning. That the gunman was a 25-year old Israeli opposed to the peace accords and whose aggression was encouraged by the rhetoric of homegrown Israeli groups further complicated the event's fallout.
