Roman doesn`t speak - not a word in twenty-six years. But the joy he takes in filming and being filmed is one expression of his life with autism. The relationship between Roman and his primary carer, Xaver Wirth, who, in the course of the film, teaches him how to work a chain saw, is touching yet unsettling and exhausting for both. They are forever approaching each other, always fearful that the all-too-fragile connection between them could break down. When Xaver unexpectedly dies, the question of an autist`s capacity for empathy unavoidably arises.
