FBI contre Hollywood (2001)

In October 1997, a forgiveness ceremony in honor of some rare survivors of two "Hollywood Tens" and the victims of McCarthyism took place in Los Angeles. A new page is turned with this belated repentance of America for those whose lives and careers were wrongly praised. At the same time, the FBI files referring to this time raised little and little or I saw the biographers who worked on Hollywood began to have access to the enormous "dossiers" that the federal agents would gather for two years on the stars of American cinema. Assim, there is a thick "dossier" of the FBI on Bogart that may run rivers of ink. Imagine all this information that the FBI agents would keep about all those who, from time to time, had links with the cinema business during these dark years. It seems that there are those who de facto joined the Californian cell of the Communist Party, the victims of McCarthyism, those who appeared on the fifty or black lists, etc. Based on information withdrawn from some of these cases, this documentary investigates the dark years of American cinema and attempts to discover the mechanisms of an implacable suspicion leading to one of the most diabolical practices of collective denunciation that the 20th century has ever known.
