Rüdiger Stolze has pawned the house and property for his lifelong dream, his own Elbe ferry, and in the process got caught up in the fraudulent businessman Gernot Rudich. When his beloved boat threatens to be seized, Stolze sets out to put an end to his life, to go down honorably as captain on board his ship.
