As the youthful friendship between Krinio, the beautiful daughter of the village's powerful chief shepherd, and Dimos, a poor herder, turns into deep affection, her father decides to put an end to their relationship. Intent on making Krinio forget Dimos once and for all, he sends her off to Athens to study, only to realise that their love is even stronger now. Under those circumstances, only a mutually profitable marriage can solve this persistent problem; however, when the bride summons up the courage to listen to her heart, a tragedy awaits. Is there a future for the star-crossed lovers?
