August Sunday (1961)

The conflict between youth and old age, life and death. Youth is represented here by the nurse Zuzka and her beloved Jirka. Not in age, but in thinking and feeling, they are joined by the local postmaster and Zuzka's uncle, the engineer Mixa. They are opposed by the aging, drinking Vera Mixová, her weak-willed lover, editor Morák, and a pair of childless husbands, the Vachs.
