The Woman and the Beast (1917)

After Italian immigrant John marries beautiful widow Rosa, family tensions arise between them when Rosa's former suitor appears. His wife construes his even-tempered demeanor as weakness. When the circus comes to town, an escaped lion and the stabbing death of one of the circus laborers give John the chance to redeem himself with his wife.
