Liduska Stanková is the daughter of a rich farmer Soucek. No one takes her seriously that she loves Toník, an excellent violinist, the son of the country musician Jaros, and her parents force her to marry the rich Krejza. During the wedding ceremony, the girl in love runs away from the altar to her beloved Toník, who, in defiance, goes out into the world. When she doesn't find him, she goes crazy. Liduska's parents are unhappy to see the girl's apathy, from which she only wakes up briefly when she hears the music.
