Giving her all to advocate the end of loneliness, Madame Efthalia, a spirited, outspoken widow from Smyrna and skilful matchmaker, is determined to pair off the neighbourhood's unattached ladies with eligible bachelors. However, as the ever-present lady tries her best to end injustice, Sultana, a lively old friend and equally enthusiastic matcher, sets foot in the tight-knit community, paving the way for an all-out confrontation.
