Sailor's Holiday (1944)

Passed (US) | USA | English | 60 min
Directed by: William Berke
5.8

A lightweight, thin-as-air b-comedy in which movies' first Dagwood Bumstead (Arthur Lake) and its first Batman (Lewis Wison) team up with Dick Haymes lesser-know kid brother (Bob Haymes) as three merchant marines on shore leave in Hollywood. Two of the three buddies break off their engagements after being charmed by a couple of starlets, played by the one-and-done Jane/June Lawrence and future double-Oscar winner Shelly Winters, billed as Shelly Winter. The film highlight comes with a back-lot tour of Columbia Pictures Corporation's back lot in which they watch Ann Miller performing in whatever b-musical Columbia had her working in when "Sailor's Holiday" was being made.
