Old Love for New (1918)

Concerned over her dwindling bank account, society matron Mrs. Alcot forces her daughter Gwendolyn to marry Harvey Marton, Jr., the son of a wealthy New York banker. Gwen and Harvey live a reckless and extravagant life until Harvey, Sr. orders his son either to earn his own living or be disinherited. The couple consequently goes West, where Harvey, unaccustomed to the rugged surroundings, becomes the butt of the cowboys' practical jokes. Disgusted, Gwen flirts with Jerry Marquis, who seizes her roughly in his arms and knocks the outraged Harvey senseless. Determined to prove himself, Harvey takes boxing lessons and soundly defeats Jerry in a fight, winning Gwen's respect and love.
