Across Five Aprils (1990)

This story begins with the farming family in Illinois shortly before the American Civil War begins. Brothers are divided in their opinions as to which side is "right". Then the story chronicles their subsequent involvement as seen through the eyes of the youngest brother who is too young to join the fight.
