Inez Milholland: Forward into Light (2016)

This short documentary is a window into the Women's Suffrage Movement through the sacrifice of an American Amazon who will inspire today's woman as much as she did 100 years ago. Inez Milholland broke convention with her striking conscience which was demonstrated advocating for gender equality, pacifism, racial justice, labor, and WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE. She captured headlines and mesmerized audiences as she proved that voting rights appealed, not just to "brainy women," but to all women, "ladies" and beauties as well. Most famously, she led the 1913 Suffrage Parade on her horse, Gray Dawn; risking all as she rode directly into the masses of violent disapproving men. White cape, gloves and a crown, Inez became the Suffrage Movement's very own Joan of Arc, the national iconic figure for VOTES FOR WOMEN. Her dedication to Women's Suffrage lead her speaking across the country; in this overwhelming road trip, Inez grows sicker and ultimately, succumbs to a tragic death, in the middle of advocating: "Mr. President, how long much Women wait for Liberty?" She dies working for our right to vote, in 1916, at age 30! Her life and work are a cry to go on: To always cast our hard-won vote, and to participate in our democracy and in struggles for equality. 2016 marks the Centennial of Inez Milholland's untimely death.
