Pregnancy is a time of mixed emotions. Most women have irrational thoughts at some stage during pregnancy. In the past many women did die in childbirth, so it is ingrained in everything from fairy tales, to novels, to our own family history. We live in a time when the chances of a woman dying in childbirth are very low. But that doesn't stop us dreaming about it.
