In the 1700s tears were perceived as a sign of a good heart and refinement. To not cry was regarded as an evidence of a corrupt mind, the spiritual coarseness or even a crime. But somewhere along the way to our own time all this changed. The film "Cry me a river" challenges the ideal of manhood and masculinity and why it is such a taboo to cry, especially for men.
