Ravinia Festival: Chicago's Circle Rockets Launch (2012)

In 2011, Ravinia Festival's REACH*TEACH*PLAY educational outreach program created a free student orchestra based on the hugely successful Venezuelan El Sistema education mode: a system based on total music-immersion. This new orchestra was launched at Catalyst Circle Rock Charter School in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago under the banner of "Sistema Ravinia." In this short documentary, more than 50 students receive their new instruments, learn their very first notes, and perform their first concert for adoring fans.
