Local Motives (2011)

A feature documentary that takes an in-depth, balanced look at the political and economic motivations that drive the development of of passenger rail expansion in the United States, and the decision-making processes that determine transit development. Primarily set it in the state of Minnesota, it explores in three case studies how under the Obama Administration, the economic development potential of new train infrastructure is valued more than actually moving people, and how this calculus pits communities against each other in a classic fight for federal dollars.
