Hustruleg (1957)

A shy and mousy little school teacher, Irene Ellliot, is persuaded to marry a wealthy senator to cover up his secret romance with another woman. Irene soon blossoms into a charming and intelligent hostess. The senator falls in love with her and also develops an admiration for her talents as a shrewd backstage politician. The play is set in the senator's apartment in a suburb to Washingtoin D.C., tricky deals are made, double-crossers are double-crossed - but it's all for love. TV adaptation of Verneuil's 1950 Broadway hit.
