Changes Within (2011)

Mental illness occurs at any age and is something for many that the stigma surrounding the illnesses and the way it's portrayed in the media as negative is not spoken about. The lack of understanding by most who come across as embarrassed when being told they have an illness the damaging for some more than the illness itself, statistics are one in four can develop a mental illness. The suffering associated with being mentally unwell is often experienced in silence when if spoken of would allow a faster recovery. The journey that most take after being diagnosed with a mental illness is to find the "Changes Within" coping with being told you have an illness and how harmful the effect it will have on the person for the rest of their life. Everyone's journey is different and this short film gives a little insight into one man's life, James Cairns was 23 when his diagnosis of being mentally unwell, join him on his journey with his mental illness.
